Residency for Foreigners Married to Panamanian Citizens
Foreign nationals who have married a Panamanian citizen and live with them in a relationship characterized by exclusivity, stability, and continuity may apply for this permit.
To formalize this process, it is essential to present a notarized Power of Attorney and an Application detailing precisely the name and nationality of the applicant's parents, accompanied by three recent photographs and a copy of the passport duly cross-checked before a notary or the corresponding authority. The file must include Criminal Record and Health certificates, the Sworn Declaration of Personal Background form, and a certified check for the sum of B/.250.00 made out to the National Treasury.
Regarding the basis of the family link, the marriage certificate and the Panamanian spouse's birth certificate are required, both issued by the Civil Registry, along with the birth certificates of any Panamanian children; likewise, a copy of the Panamanian spouse's ID (cédula) authenticated by the National Directorate of Identification of the Electoral Tribunal must be attached. Finally, the process is completed with the submission of the Letter of Responsibility and Repatriation signed by the spouse before a notary public, and documentation that reliably proves the marital domicile, whether through a lease agreement, property title, or utility bills.
